Palmer was instrumental in developing this photovoltaic project which went on-line in February 2008 and sold over 46,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity during the year to the National Tropical Botanical Garden (NTBG).The 30 kilowatt capacity project provides electricity to NTBG’s research center and became economically viable due to incentives offered by both the state and federal government.

In 2009, the center became the first building on the island of Kauai to be awarded LEED (Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design) Gold Certification.
